The sealed water cooler, as a heat exchange device for cooling the seal water in the gasification process, is primarily used for heat exchange between deoxygenated demineralized water (at 80–90 bar) and circulating water. Such devices are usually shell-and-tube type heat exchangers; however, they tend to leak frequently. What are the reasons for these leaks? What material is used for the manifolds? For such equipment with a large pressure difference between the tube and shell, what structure is commonly used?
In these two years, the design approach has changed: instead of going from the deaerator outlet to the heat exchanger and then to the pump, the pressure difference is much lower now, which also reduces manufacturing costs. We’ll wait and see the actual performance.

I changed the direction; I think it will work. This device was used in this way before, and leaks occurred for two reasons: first, defects in the equipment’s manufacturing process, and second, poor quality control of the circulating water, which led to corrosion. Previously, carbon steel tube bundles were used, but they were later replaced with stainless steel, which gave better results.

It seems that the temperature of the working medium for users using sealed water is quite high; it’s likely that oxygen penetration poses a problem, which is why deoxygenated water is chosen as an alternative.
