From the perspective of environmental protection and comprehensive utilization, we are considering adopting the membrane electrolysis process used in the chlor-alkali industry to install a facility capable of processing 10,000 tons of sodium sulfate per year. The dilute sulfuric acid and alkali solutions produced can be reused on-site. What is the approximate minimum investment required? Theoretical research on mirabilite electrolysis has been ongoing for many years, but there are still some technical challenges related to membranes resistant to sulfuric acid and the practical implementation of this process. For small-scale scaling up, efforts may be needed in terms of membrane selection and the optimization of operating conditions; additionally, what to do with the dilute sulfuric acid produced (with a concentration generally below 50%) is a major issue. Corrosivity and moisture content are its limitations.
