China’s independently developed ultra-deep desulfurization technology for gasoline has been successfully put into operation; it is unknown how it performs and by how much the octane rating is reduced http://www.ccin.com.cn/upload/160329/1603291025526864.jpg According to a report from Sinochem News, the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, announced on March 26 that the ultra-deep desulfurization technology for gasoline, developed in collaboration with Yanchang Petroleum, was successfully applied in the production of GIV-standard gasoline at a capacity of 400,000 tons per year by Shandong Hengyuan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. The gasoline fixed-bed ultra-deep catalytic adsorption desulfurization combined technology (YD-CADS process) is an industrialized technology that was successfully developed in 2013 through collaboration with the Yanchang Petroleum Group by a research team led by Academician Li Can and Researcher Jiang Zongxuan from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, building on more than a decade of basic and applied research. The China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation organized experts to evaluate the results, concluding that this technology possesses independent intellectual property rights, is the first of its kind in the world, and is overall at the leading level among similar international technologies. The 400,000 tons per year heavy gasoline deep desulfurization unit of Shandong Hengyuan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. employs the YD-CADS catalytic process. Construction began at the beginning of 2015, and trial operation was successful by the end of that same year. Currently, all operational parameters of the unit are stable, and the desulfurized gasoline produced meets the quality standards for National V gasoline.
