Gentlemen, does anyone have any process knowledge or practical experience regarding the use of fluidized bed furnaces for burning sulfur to produce acid? We have converted our process from using pyrite to produce acid to using sulfur; the oxygen level in the fluidized bed furnace is around 4%. The acid mist generated is quite high, and the purification system needs to produce 10 tons of 20% dilute acid per shift in order to maintain normal operation. I hope everyone will not hesitate to share their insights. Thank you!

There’s definitely a lot of dilute acid available; adding it to the acid production system is the same as adding water – it’s very easy to handle
The dry absorption system requires dilute acid from the off-gas recovery system, but it is unable to handle such a large amount of this acid. Moreover, when the purified dilute acid is added to the absorption process, the color of the acid may turn yellow. :(
The concentration of the dilute acid can be increased to around 30% using surface filters for purification, before it is sent for use in dry absorption acid mixing
During the combustion of sulfur for acid production, the concentration of sulfur trioxide is already higher than that in pyrite, and the use of dry air in this process has little impact. The higher the moisture content in the natural air, the greater the acid fog. This can be resolved by increasing the concentration of dilute acid and reducing its amount (with few sulfur impurities, the purification criteria should be satisfactory).
We changed to a different set. However, only the conversion system and the absorption system were used. As for the purification system, it has been completely removed.
