I don’t know if I’m ignorant. Today I helped collect some drawings from a design firm regarding lightning and static protection measures for warehouses storing bottled liquefied petroleum gas for household use, and those drawings only had the seal certifying the firm’s qualifications for pressure pipeline design! This project has nothing to do with pipelines at all, but the design firm insisted that it had the necessary qualifications, even providing a copy of its pressure pipeline design certification. . . . . . I would rather ask: Can the qualification for pressure pipeline design really be used for lightning and static electricity protection design?
Hehe, that’s a bit nonsense – lightning protection, static electricity prevention, and pressure pipeline permits as well.

Such a design firm is really irresponsible. Regardless of the type of drawing, it must bear the certification seal of the design agency; if it is a drawing related to pressure pipelines, it must also have the certification seal for pressure pipelines. What they’re doing is clearly wrong.
Lightning and static electricity protection design falls within the scope of the electrical engineering field. Projects involving warehouses for bottled liquefied petroleum gas require design qualifications in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical industry, chemical engineering, or municipal gas management fields. The qualification for pressure pipeline design merely indicates the competence and ability of the piping department in a design institute to carry out pipeline design; it does not represent the overall design qualifications of the design unit, nor can it substitute for work done by other departments.
Indeed, many people do this; I wonder if it’s against the rules!
It’s clearly non-compliant; nothing happens as long as all is well, but once a problem arises, both the users and the persons in charge of the reporting are left to bear the consequences.
Many people do this; some firms design projects without having a qualification stamp, relying only on a pressure pipeline stamp. Designing steam pipes, heat transfer oil pipes, and boiler rooms – amazing, right?
These can’t be called factories; at best, they are just design studios in manufacturing plants. For specialties other than equipment or piping, hire private designers. Lacking independent qualifications for project design, it is necessary to seek other qualified design firms to provide their seals for use when producing drawings.
