When there is no pressure, its reading remains at 0.0 MPa throughout 8 hours. Another digital pressure gauge with the same range of 2 MPa has a 4-digit display; when there is no pressure, its reading varies over those 8 hours – sometimes it’s -0.006 MPa, sometimes -0.001 MPa, sometimes 0.003 MPa, and sometimes 0.006 MPa. In short, it fluctuates within the range of ±0.006 MPa. Which of these two gauges has better stability? Note: Everyone is welcome to participate. Participants who answer correctly will receive 5 points as a reward. The answers will be announced on floor 119, along with an explanation of how to solve the problem. Although it’s a simple question, truly understanding it allows us to grasp the essence of measurement, master the intricacies of instruments, and use them effectively in industrial applications. Judging from the usage conditions of the instrument, the higher the accuracy grade, the better, of course.
Why is stability asked instead of precision? . . Stability should be the first consideration – it remains stable within its accuracy range. . .
Personally, I think a four-digit number looks better
One is 2 digits and the other is 4 digits; they are not on the same level at all, so it’s impossible to make a comparison. It’s like in boxing; the lightweight champion can’t be said to be better than the heavyweight runner-up or third, fourth, ... placeholders.
If the second display is changed to a 2-digit format, will it show ±0.0?
