Currently, the market price of methanol remains at low levels for an extended period. As many integrated projects in the north (coal-based methanol production followed by the manufacture of downstream products such as ethylene glycol) reach saturation, what will become of methanol plants in the future (especially those that use expensive natural gas for methanol production in the south)? ? Refined product expansion? ?
The main issue is market saturation; many companies have launched methanol production projects, at least to achieve self-sufficiency. As a result, the market prospects are not optimistic.
The profit margin for methanol is now at a normal level; it seems unlikely that there will be extremely high returns. There are many downstream products of methanol, and fine chemicals represent the preferred application area for small-scale production facilities
