It’s a reverse osmosis pure water system with a capacity of 1.5 tons per hour, featuring sand filtration, carbon filtration, and resin softening, followed by reverse osmosis. The concentration of the water on the reverse osmosis side fluctuates, and the water production volume is low. Could it be that the membrane is clogged? A few days ago it was the same situation; removing the two membranes and reinstalling them fixed it. Now it’s in this state again – what could be the reason? What’s the problem?
It’s likely that the RO reverse osmosis membrane is clogged. You can first clean it by using a solution of salt and acid in water for about 1 hour, and then clean it further by using a solution of caustic soda in water in a circulating process for around 3 hours, until the inlet pressure drops to 0.2 MPa.
Is it due to insufficient water supply after the resin softens?
The membrane is blocked, preventing water from entering; as a result, the concentration of concentrated water increases, and the pressure exerted by this concentrated water also rises. This leads to a decrease in the amount of water produced. It is possible to use a citric acid solution for cleaning – the pH of this solution should be between 2 and 3. The solution should then be circulated slowly for about 4 hours, after which it should be drained
