What type of gas can be used as fuel for space heating furnaces?
Fuel gas, crude syngas, liquefied natural gas, natural gas, etc. of the plant system
The fuel gas for the hot blast stove can be gases with a high calorific value such as liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas. High-calorific-value fuel gas is used in combination with an inert gas to adjust the calorific value of the gas. Crude gas has a relatively low calorific value, so a large amount of it is required; therefore, its use is not recommended
This post was last edited by wangdu*ng on 2016-11-24 08:36. Our company doesn’t have fuel gas, and liquefied petroleum gas increases costs; therefore we want to use raw coal gas as the fuel gas for the hot air furnace. I wonder if raw gas is useful? How effective is it?

Its use is not recommended; raw gas contains sulfur, and direct combustion leads to emissions that do not meet environmental standards.
By using purified syngas, the calorific value of the syngas produced in space furnaces is above 1500 Kca, which fully meets the thermal energy requirements of gasification hot blast stoves. Moreover, it is uneconomical to use natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas based on their calorific value ratios and prices; the high calorific value requires the addition of inert gases or a reduction in the feed rate, and incomplete combustion within the furnace can lead to temperature fluctuations. Based on existing experience, increasing the pressure of the domestically produced syngas can help maintain stable flow rates, thereby ensuring more stable operation of the hot blast stoves.
Diesel is used at startup, and purified gas obtained through low-temperature methanol washing is used after the space furnace is ignited. I’m not sure if any company has switched to using methanol for operation.
