As the title suggests: Should the pressure in 53B be slightly higher than that in the balance tube, or should it be higher than the pressure of the sealing oil? How have everyone on site made the adjustments?2. For two-stage double-support pumps: the pressure in the sealing chamber at the inlet side equals the pump inlet pressure; the pressure in the sealing chamber at the outlet side equals the exit pressure of the first-stage impeller, which is equal to (pump inlet pressure + outlet pressure/2).
3. For multi-stage double-support pumps: the pressure in the sealing chamber on the inlet side equals the pump inlet pressure. As for the pressure in the sealing chamber at the outlet side, it depends on the arrangement of the balance discs and balance pipes – sometimes it equals the inlet pressure, sometimes it corresponds to the exit pressure of an intermediate stage, and sometimes it equals the pump’s outlet pressure.
4. In the case of cantilever-type single-pump units, the pressure in the sealing chamber is related to the method used to balance axial forces as well as the radial clearance between the impeller and the pump casing. In cantilever pumps equipped with balance holes in the impeller, when the radial clearance is small, the pressure in the sealing chamber is roughly equal to the pump inlet pressure; when the clearance is larger, it is 0.05–0.1 MPa higher than the pump inlet pressure; 5.
