Originally, there was a pump with a capacity of 10 m3/h; the outlet pipelines from the oil tank were all DN50 in diameter. The oil was somewhat viscous, which resulted in a long loading time. I now want to switch to a pump with a capacity of 50 m3/h, and I’d like to change the inlet pipeline to DN100. The problem is that whether we make an opening elsewhere or enlarge the existing DN50 pipe, it’s necessary to empty the tank. I don’t want to do this; instead, I want to keep the 1.5-meter-long DN50 pipe at the tank’s outlet and replace it with a DN100 pipe later. In other words, should the inlet of the loading pump be of smaller diameter first and then changed to a larger diameter? Is that possible? Will the loading speed increase? The tank liquid level is generally around 50,000–45,000 mm, and the distance from the tank outlet to the pump inlet is about 18 m. I would appreciate your advice
Even after connecting 50 and 100, cleaning is still required; the pump outlet usually goes from a smaller diameter to a larger one, which can easily cause the pump to get stuck
No, the oil has high viscosity and low flow rate. You can try using a pipeline pump. Try to shorten the pipeline between the tank inlet and the pump inlet
What kind of pump was used originally, and what were the viscosity and temperature values?
For shielded pumps, viscosity decreases as temperature drops, but it does not exceed 0.1 Pas
