A horizontal carbon steel vessel is currently being designed, with a design pressure of 1.4 MPa and classified as Category II; The situation is as described in the title. According to clause 1.6.1(1) of TSG R0004-2009, my understanding is that for the connections shown in the general layout, a nodal diagram of the groove for those connections should be drawn (for external grooves where DN < DN200), right? ; This situation also poses problems during hydrostatic testing. As I understand it, the overall height of the pipe extension is simply indicated as the specified value, such as 150; the remaining amount is determined based on process considerations regarding blind plates. How should the technical requirements be formulated in such cases? Please give me some advice. Thank you
This post was last edited by gn_1984 on 2016-6-29 at 11:41. Technical requirements need not be specified; it is sufficient to show the groove diagram and the overhang length in the diagram. As for the margin for hydrostatic testing, this is something considered by the manufacturer; typically, a margin of 20–30 mm is reserved. After the hydrostatic test is successful, this margin is removed according to the actual extension length specified in the general layout, and the grooves are trimmed to meet the requirements indicated in the groove diagrams provided in the general layout.
