A few days ago, the Xuzhou Liuguan Yigao Zhongtai project for the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG), funded by **China Gas Group Yigao Environmental Protection Investment Co., Ltd. and Xuzhou Liuguan Zhongtai New Energy Co., Ltd., was fully completed. Currently, trial operations are being carried out on a single unit, with full-scale operation scheduled to begin in the near future. Located in the industrial park area of Liuquan Town, Tongshan District, Xuzhou City, this project is the first in Jiangsu Province to utilize coke oven gas for the production of liquefied natural gas. It covers an area of 162 mu, has a registered capital of 24.5 million US dollars, with a total investment of 550 million yuan, and is capable of producing 60,000 tons of liquefied natural gas per year. Of this amount, 250 million yuan was invested in 2015 and 300 million yuan in 2016. As of the end of June, a total of 339.9028 million yuan has been invested, of which 258.3028 million yuan was spent on equipment and 81.6 million yuan on infrastructure development. The project was designed by Beijing Zonglian Sheng Design Institute. Its core technology utilizes the world’s most advanced methanation process provided by the British company DAVY (Glasgow Caledonian), which is used to produce high-quality liquefied natural gas through the purification, methanation, and liquefaction of coke oven gas from Zhongtai Energy Company. This project, which transforms waste into value, increases the added value of products, and enables clean production in the coking industry, is also a key initiative for Xuzhou City’s development of a circular economy. It can not only alleviate the imbalance between energy supply and demand but also make full and rational use of industrial exhaust gases, reduce environmental pollution, and achieve resource recycling. Once completed and put into operation, the project will generate annual sales revenue of 560 million yuan and profits and taxes of over 60 million yuan, while creating employment for more than 500 people.
