Based on the chemical properties and sources of biogas fermentation raw materials, they can be classified into the following categories: 1. Nitrogen-rich raw materials. Nitrogen-rich raw materials mainly refer to human, animal, and poultry manure. Such raw materials contain a high amount of compounds that are prone to decomposition, as well as a high nitrogen content; they require no pretreatment and constitute one of the main sources of raw materials for biogas fermentation in rural areas of China. This raw material is characterized by a short fermentation cycle and fast gas production. 　　2 Carbon-rich raw materials Carbon-rich raw materials mainly refer to various crop straws, which have a high carbon content and are also one of the main materials used for biogas fermentation in rural areas of China. Its gas production characteristic is a slower decomposition rate and a longer gas production cycle. When using this raw material, pre-treatment is required before it is put into the tank to improve gas production. There are also other types of fermentation feedstocks, such as urban organic waste and aquatic plants.
