What are the tips for using the clutch and gear shift in driving a car? At what speed should shifting occur, and which gear should be used at what mileage?
The clutch should be pressed all the way down when shifting gears. I usually shift at an engine speed of 2000 rpm (the 1.6-liter engine doesn’t have much power). Once the vehicle is moving at a speed of 5 km/h, it’s possible to shift to the second gear; thereafter, the gear should be chosen based on both the engine speed and the vehicle’s speed
Is the engine speed always at 2000 during each gear shift?
Not necessarily; it depends on the power of your vehicle. Some vehicles with a larger engine capacity can shift gears at 1500
Isn’t that the responsibility of a driving school instructor?
Don’t try to pull too much weight; just keep a moderate speed. Pay close attention to the engine noise on a regular basis; over time, it should be possible to identify what the normal operating sound sounds like.
