Hello, everyone! I would like to ask everyone: I have a piston pump for cryogenic liquids (liquid nitrogen). The manufacturer says that the motor direction needs to be changed after 1,000 hours of operation, but I’m not sure why. Could those who are more experienced give me some advice? If it can rotate in both directions, the rotation direction of the motor can be changed regularly, usually every 1,000 to 2,000 hours. Doing this allows the crosshead, slider, and connecting rod to have a longer service life~~
This requirement ensures uniform wear of all contact surfaces involved in relative sliding motion, thereby extending the service life of the components. It includes components such as the crankshaft and connecting rods, the connecting rods and crossheads, the crossheads and slide rails, as well as piston rings.
Was the steering changed after a problem occurred? We tried changing it as well, but the results weren’t very good; the traffic levels still fluctuated significantly after some time.
No problems occurred; it was the manufacturer’s recommendation, but they didn’t explain why.
We are experiencing insufficient flow; the manufacturer recommends changing the direction of rotation at regular intervals. After making such changes, the flow rate becomes poor after operating for a while, and it becomes necessary to replace the sealing gasket.
