I would like to ask the experts: what are the main purposes of conducting thermodynamic and mechanical performance tests on compressors? Is it necessary?
Simply put, mechanical performance testing focuses on measuring aspects such as vibration and noise during the operation of the compressor, while thermodynamic performance testing involves measuring various parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, etc., as well as the relationships between them; it serves to assess the operational performance of the compressor~~
There are two types of compressor testing: one is no-load testing, and the other is load testing. The no-load trial operation corresponds to what you referred to as mechanical testing; it primarily evaluates the electrical and instrumentation interlocks of the unit, and checks whether the performance of the equipment as well as its manufacturing and installation quality meet the specifications and design requirements. The load test run is likely what you refer to as a thermodynamic performance test; it involves operating the compressor under load in order to comprehensively assess the quality of the equipment installation, the performance of the equipment, and its production capacity, while also checking whether the design meets the requirements for normal operation.
