Our company has a centrifugal carbon steel pump for loading waste sulfuric acid onto ships, which is used indirectly. There is a seal leakage every time it is turned on. I would like to ask the experts here: what type of seal would be suitable?
Vertical pumps with dynamic seals will not leak
The format of the pump itself cannot be changed; we are considering making changes to the pump’s sealing mechanism. Some people have recommended using ceramic mechanical seals, but we’re not sure yet

Depending on the concentration of sulfuric acid, a vertical pump is selected; the manufacturer will provide you with recommendations and maintenance plans
For a new pump, you can contact the pump manufacturer to have the existing seal modified to an internal type; just pay a slight difference in price. For old pumps, it is recommended to replace them directly with fluorine-lined magnetic pumps, which feature static sealing and no leakage.
