To prevent nitrogen loss and maintain the stability of compound fertilizers, they are generally designed to be slightly acidic. It’s fine to use potassium carbonate just to fine-tune the system’s pH value (it’s expensive; you can afford to be extravagant only if you have the money). If a large amount of compound fertilizer is used later on, gases such as carbon dioxide and ammonia will be released, causing the bags to swell. ;P;P;P
