At around 10 a.m. on August 14, an explosion occurred in the methanol tank at Datang Dolun Coal Chemical Plant. Based on on-site investigations, it is preliminarily determined that the accident occurred during the company’s shutdown for maintenance; while external contractors were working in the methanol tank area, they failed to follow the operating procedures, which led to an explosion in one of the methanol tanks. As a result, one person died, one person is missing, and one person was injured. The injured person has been transferred to Zhangjiakou 251 Hospital. At 10:30 a.m. on the 15th, Wang Jiuling, head of the Publicity Department of the Dolun County Party Committee, confirmed this news to The Paper (www.thepaper.cn), and the aforementioned announcement was issued by the Publicity Department of the Dolun County Party Committee in the early hours of the 15th. The report states that after the accident, the accident response command center established at the scene took effective measures to handle the situation. As of 20:15, the fire inside the tank has been extinguished, and related follow-up actions are ongoing.
