The factory wants to use fiberglass-reinforced plastic for anti-corrosion purposes. I would like to ask whether fiberglass-reinforced plastic can be bonded to stainless steel while ensuring a tight seal? Since the equipment is welded from carbon steel and stainless steel, and carbon steel is not corrosion-resistant, it must be completely enclosed; it definitely needs to be bonded to a part of the stainless steel. There is also nylon; if it won’t stick to nylon, can plastic be welded on using a hot air gun, and then fiberglass be attached to that plastic?
It should be fine if there’s no pressure; fiberglass can’t fit tightly against stainless steel, so I’m not sure if applying some glue or something would work. If there’s no need for pressure, then fiberglass alone will suffice
You can consult the shipyard; in the past, the propeller shafts were made of metal with fiberglass lining on the outside.
It would be better to consult a professional team; I think fiberglass can be used for corrosion and leak prevention on cement walls, and stainless steel works just as well
