The steam flow meter I had installed is broken; I’ve replaced it with a new one. The original flow meter had a range of 0–20 tons, while the new one has a range of 0–15 tons. The steam flow rate used to be around 7 tons. If the range on the DCS remains 0–20, I wonder whether the steam flow rate will still be around 7 tons? Please ask an expert to explain; it will earn extra points
How is it possible that two flowmeters at the same location have different measurement ranges? Is it differential pressure? For current signals, if the measurement ranges at the two ends are different, the values will definitely not be the same
Just set the range of the DCS display to be the same

The DCS value will be on the high side, right? The transmitter’s range is 0–15 tons; when a value of 7 tons is entered, the signal is 11.46 mA. When this value is transmitted to the DCS, it corresponds to 9.33 tons. Is that how it works? I’m a beginner too
The DCS range must be consistent with the flow measurement range
The DCS will not display a value of around 7 tons; since the calculation is based on current, the range used differs, which definitely leads to different results. The actual displayed value will likely be higher, and this can be adjusted in the DCS – it’s not difficult at all
