Our factory has one set of acidic water stripping unit, which uses a single-stage stripper to remove hydrogen sulfide and ammonia from the vapor stream; it is now scheduled for renovation. I would appreciate the advice of those with more experience: is it possible to make further modifications at the top of the tower in order to separate ammonia from hydrogen sulfide? Can a packed tower achieve separation? Thank you very much
This is a single-tower full-blowout process; if ammonia needs to be extracted, pressurized operation is required, the height of the tower increases, and the heat exchange network also changes, so modifying it must be quite troublesome. I’ve never heard of using fillers; I hope someone knowledgeable can answer this
Switch to single-tower pressurized stripping with ammonia extraction via a side stream, but the design pressure of the tower is not sufficient either!
It seems there is no such process. We have previously modified the side-line ammonia extraction for a single tower.
Is it possible to change to ammonia extraction through the side line of the tower? My tower is designed for 0.38 MPa, but I am operating it at 0.2 MPa – is that too low a pressure?
This is a single-tower full-exhaust process; that’s how it’s designed. If modification is necessary, it can be changed to “single-tower pressurized side-line extraction stripping process” or “double-tower pressurized stripping process”, or an additional NaHS treatment unit or sulfur recovery unit (ammonia combustion)
