In a flare, when the volume of gas discharged into the flare suddenly increases (but does not reach the pressure at which the rupture disc fails), can a high hydrogen content cause the rupture disc to fail? Or will it experience a flash explosion when burning inside the torch?
What is the amount that is vented to the flare? Is it the pipeline where the burst disc is located? First of all, it should be understood that pressure relief valves have an upper and lower limit value; if the pressure reaches this lower limit, rupture is possible. If an increase in gas volume causes a rise in pressure, an explosion will occur; but if it’s just an increase in gas volume, no explosion will happen.

The overpressure is released through the rupture disc; an increase in gas volume does not cause an explosion as long as the pressure does not reach the rupture pressure of the disc. Additionally, rupture discs used in flares usually come equipped with explosion detection devices
There is a feedback signal, but during my actual operation, the pressure did not reach the burst pressure, and yet the rupture disc broke! And it’s happened several times already! After taking it apart, it was found that the rupture occurred in the reverse direction, not in the forward direction!
There is negative pressure; what model should be chosen?
