What is related to the chloride ions in the wastewater from flue gas desulfurization? The chloride ion level in my system ranges from 100 to 700 mg/L. I posted a question earlier saying that a level of no more than 900 mg/L is acceptable – is that correct?
The chloride ions in the wastewater from flue gas desulfurization originate from the chlorine present in the washing water; as the water evaporates within the tower, the chloride ions become concentrated, with a concentration increase of 6 to 9 times. Chlorine can cause corrosion of steel; carbon steel is not sensitive to chlorine and can withstand 1000PPM chloride ions.
Is this related to the chloride ions in the raw materials?
This is something that can be studied – specifically, how much chloride ions are present in the flue gas or water vapor. Generally speaking, during the treatment of wash water, the amount of chloride ions does not decrease; therefore, the key issue is to determine whether the flue gas contains chloride ions. If chlorine ions can be carried in water vapor, it will cause severe corrosion to stainless steel chimneys.
