Section 7.0.14 of Chapter 7 in the Petroleum Storage Tank Design Code specifies that a high-point vent valve should be installed on the pipeline between the pump inlet and outlet. ---Why between the pump inlet and outlet? Shouldn’t there be a vent valve at the pump inlet to prevent the pump from running dry? 7.0.15 The installation of outlets for flammable and combustible gases shall comply with the following provisions: 1. The outlet shall be located outside the pump house (shed) and shall be at a height of 4 m or more above the surrounding ground level. ---Does the exhaust pipe mentioned here refer to the exhaust valve pipeline in 7.0.14? I’m not quite sure how to regulate this clause; I hope everyone can give some guidance. Thank you!
1. The exhaust valve is used for filling pumps. 2. The discharge pipe is not an exhaust valve pipe; it is something like the outlet pipe of a safety valve. Should a flame arrester also be installed?

Does that mean there is no necessary connection between the exhaust pipe and this exhaust valve? Is there any official explanation? Because there are inspections in some areas now, requiring the pipeline behind the pump’s inlet exhaust valve to be connected outside the pump room (shed) ; Moreover, installing a flame arrester on the gas emitted from the exhaust pipe is equivalent to releasing it directly into the atmosphere – aren’t there any environmental regulations regarding this?
I really hadn’t noticed that; but this is an opening that requires protection with two valves
