Do reservoirs count as lakes?
Thread Content
Are reservoirs considered lakes?
“Reservoirs are man-made, while lakes form naturally. There are similarities and differences between the two; reservoirs alter the natural flow of water and are controllable, whereas lakes do not possess these characteristics. ” Is the above analysis acceptable?
Lakes are bodies of water formed when still or slowly flowing water fills a depression in the land. Reservoirs are a general term for water storage bodies formed in river valleys, plain depressions, and gaps in underground rock layers, including valley reservoirs, plain reservoirs, and underground reservoirs.
