The support bearings of the centrifugal compressor are of the tilting-pad type. When measuring the clearance, it was found to be too small. Can the pads be lapped?

Sure. The tiles should be gently scraped using a flat scraper. After scraping, use a small sanding pad to gently sand it smooth in one direction

Measure the deviation of the 5 tiles to see if any of them have a significant upward deviation; those with such a large upward deviation can be tried out in a lateral position.
