Our company has a sulfuric acid storage tank that has been in use for 3 years; we now need to clean the sludge inside it. We’re looking for effective methods to achieve a thorough cleaning, or we’re interested in professional companies that can handle the cleaning of sulfuric acid storage tanks. In fact, it should not be cleaned. You can analyze it as follows: if cleaning is necessary, it first needs to be treated with dilute acid before water is added. As soon as this set was used to survive, the container leaked.
It would be easier if there was a PTFE coating inside.
Abroad, there are specialized equipment for cleaning sludge from storage tanks, but since there is only one tank, the cost of importing such equipment is too high. If the storage tank is large, for example, larger than 1000 cubic meters, it is recommended to consider using continuous hot water cleaning; a corrosion inhibitor can be added to the hot water to prevent corrosion of the tank body and bottom plate. Try to clean the sludge at the bottom of the small storage tank using clean water.

Circulation is carried out, and then the liquid is collected in a prepared container. New acid is subsequently added to continue the circulation and discharge process. (Ensure proper safety precautions)
For such a highly corrosive medium, should it not be neutralized with an alkali first, and the pH value checked to ensure it’s fine before cleaning? Using water won’t work; it will simply cause corrosion and damage.
