Demineralized water cannot be measured using an electromagnetic flowmeter; even if used reluctantly, the results will not be good. It is best to use a orifice plate or vortex flow meter for measurement.
When using an electromagnetic flowmeter to measure flow, the medium must be a conductive dielectric with a conductivity of ≥5 us/cm. Water with a conductivity of less than 5 us/cm at 25°C and a SiO2 content of less than 100 ug/L is referred to as grade-1 deionized water. Water with a conductivity of less than 0.2 us/cm at 25°C and a SiO2 content of less than 20 ug/L is called grade-2 deionized water. Water with a conductivity of less than 0.2 us/cm at 25°C, and concentrations of Cu, Fe, and Na below 3 ug/L as well as a SiO2 content below 3 ug/L, is known as high-purity or ultra-pure water.
