Lushun Railway Station is located on the southwest side of the Baiyushan Scenic Area in Lushun; it is a uniquely designed wooden building in Russian style. With a history of over a century, this railway station boasts the best-preserved European-style platform in the country; its straw-hat-shaped elliptical domes are covered with feather-like small tiles, and its intricate decorative details reflect Russian style. Lushun Railway Station was built in 1898 and put into operation in 1903. It served as the terminal station of the South Manchuria Railway line constructed during the period when Tsarist Russia occupied Lushun. Today, it is the best-preserved European-style building along the Northeast Railway. This train station used to have trains heading to Dalian for a long time; many travelers would take those green-colored trains from Dalian to Lushun just to experience the slow pace of travel. Regrettably, for various reasons, starting from April 20, 2014, with the suspension of trains No. 6331 and 6332, traveling to Lushun by green-colored trains became a thing of the past. Fortunately, the Lushun Railway Station is still open for visits today, though usually only the ticket office can be seen; it is still worth a visit for those who are interested in historical buildings.
