Chongqing Yongchuan coal mine accident on October 31: At 11:33 on October 31, a gas explosion occurred at the Jinshangou Coal Mine of Chongqing Yongchuan Jinshangou Coal Industry Co., Ltd. At that time, the Jinshangou Coal Mine had 2 coal mining faces and 2 tunneling faces, and 35 people were on duty at the time of the accident. After the accident, 2 people managed to evacuate on their own without injury, while the remaining 33 people died. Preliminary analysis indicates that the gas explosion that occurred on October 31 at the Jinshangou Coal Mine in Yongchuan District, Chongqing, was caused by gas accumulation resulting from mining operations in areas where such activities were prohibited, as well as by illegal blasting. The prominent issues exposed by the accident include: first, illegal organization of production. Second, production is carried out in violation of regulations by using the outdated and obsolete mining method of digging instead of extraction. Third is evading safety supervision. Fourth, safety management is chaotic. Fifth, production was resumed in the unauthorized area beyond the designated limits without any inspection or approval.
