Daqing’s original ethylene production capacity was 180,000 tons per year; KBR’s technology was used. The deethanizer has two feed streams – the upper feed comes from the bottom of the demethanizer and enters through the first tray. I’ve never seen whether this approach is reasonable or not

Isn’t the bottom product of the demethanization tower the C2 components? It’s equivalent to reversing the flow; if the C3 content is very low, there should be no problem. If returning the stream to refining is considered due to the high C3 content at the top of the tower, it is best to do so at the second tray.
The feed plate is designed based on the components; the first layer theory works, but I’ve never seen it in practice
The bottom product of the demethanization tower contains no C1 compounds or hydrogen, so there is no issue with using it as reflux in the ethane column
To be clear, the current batch of material contains 6.3 mol% of C3
