What are the differences between the cables that connect sensors on ships and those used in chemical plants, and are there any relevant standards? Is it necessary to use armored cable?

It should be a marine cable; it’s not necessary for it to be armored – at least I haven’t seen that specified in any standards, and marine cables are not limited to only armored types.
