Let’s all talk about it: when designing safety valves for media such as propylene and liquid ammonia, what kind of insulation measures are used for the pipelines downstream of the valves? Heated, insulated, or bare pipe?
Liquid or gas? If it’s liquid, keep it under insulation; if it’s gas, use bare tubes

What is the role of liquid in providing insulation?
Insulation is provided, but no heat tracing is used. It is mainly to prevent frostbite in people
Our propylene inlet pipeline is insulated, while the outlet pipeline is not; other pipelines are also insulated. The pipelines surrounding the safety valves related to propylene lack insulation as well, but operation remains normal. At the beginning of liquid ammonia operation
Initially, only the feed lines and unloading lines for liquid ammonia were insulated; after one year of operation, insulation was added to all the relevant liquid phase lines, which resulted in more severe vaporization of the liquid ammonia.
