As the title suggests, do you keep track of the material used for pipe supports when doing design work? Should we still create an atlas based only on those 5 books, 21629, without keeping track of the materials? Everyone can share how their own design institute regulates pipe racks.

I’ve found that many design institutes don’t handle the material selection for pipe racks; they only provide a catalog of options. Another example is the structural engineering field: it only produces drawings, without calculating the materials for beams, steel platforms, and stairs.

Here, both the root and the pipe section of the pipe rack are accounted for in terms of piping statistics; only the root of large pipe racks that involve structural elements is included in the structural drawings, while the pipe section remains part of the piping statistics. Foreign engineering companies assign a code to each size of pipe rack, such as 28-10B-C: the format is type 28, the pipe diameter is 10\", and it’s of type C; this allows software to identify the material based on the code.
