I’ve been feeling down lately; I work in the production scheduling department at a chemical company. The company’s Safety and Environment Department requires us to check the fire alarm system at the start of each shift, as well as to log entries into the fire management system. There was a problem with the fire department’s registry system website, so I couldn’t log in; as a result, no records were made. The Safety and Environment Department is going to assess me now. Due to the company’s financial situation, the other three dispatchers have received fire safety training, but I haven’t received any training yet, and of course I don’t have a certificate either. What I would like to ask is, for those in a scheduling role, is it necessary to undergo specialized training organized by the fire department in order to operate the fire alarm system and maintain the fire registration management system? Or rather, is it necessary to have the relevant fire safety certificate in order to operate it? Can I refuse to operate it if I don’t have such a certificate? Are there any relevant legal provisions that can be consulted to protect one’s rights?
If it is a staff member on duty in the fire control room, there are now regulations requiring them to hold a certificate to work. But it’s not clear whether production schedulers, who are responsible for operating the fire alarm system and maintaining the fire registration management system, need to undergo specialized training organized by the fire department; given the current trend toward eliminating professional qualifications, such mandatory requirements may not exist. Waiting for an expert to clarify things.
Special training organized by the fire department is required to operate it
