How should temperature measurement points be arranged in an adiabatic fixed-bed reactor? What distance should separate each measurement point, and are there any standards for this? Which temperature point should be used as a reference when controlling the reaction?
It depends on the device; in any case, this is all the result of combining developers with practical applications.

I remember that in reaction engineering, there is a so-called optimal temperature measurement point; I can’t recall its exact name as it’s been too long since I last reviewed textbooks on the subject. I suggest you check those textbooks – that point is the sensitive point of the reaction, and its location is determined through experiments. Therefore, you need to install a series of temperature measurement points throughout the reactor. After conducting multiple experiments, you can use ORIGIN to create a plot of these data points, and this will help identify which point responds most sensitively to changes in operating conditions. Basically, it is this point that is used to control the reaction~

Along the axis, temperature measurement points should be installed at the inlet, below the inlet surface, in the middle of the bed layer, at the bottom of the bed layer, and at the outlet. In the radial direction, at least two pairs should be installed at 180-degree intervals, with the insertion depth varying depending on the diameter size. If the reactor is large enough, the distance between temperature measurement points should not exceed 1m
