What is the purpose of the 45° notch at the end of the tube inserted into the tank? Is it facing the tank wall or the center of the tank? Is there any saying?

Some enter at an angle from the side; this utilizes the principle of centrifugal separation. In reality, the entry point inside the device should be level, so describing it as 45 degrees is not quite accurate.
