As the name suggests, an accumulator in a small hydraulic press is a device used for storing and releasing pressure energy. Its main functions in such presses are as follows: three points in total. 1) Energy storage The accumulator in a small hydraulic press can store a certain volume of pressurized oil, which is released when needed for use by the hydraulic system. 1. Increase the movement speed of the hydraulic cylinder: When the hydraulic cylinder of a small hydraulic press moves at a slow speed, less flow rate is required; a small hydraulic pump can be used to supply oil, and the excess pressure oil produced by the pump can be stored in an accumulator for use as an auxiliary power source. When the hydraulic cylinder moves rapidly, a large flow rate is required; at this time the system pressure is low, so the accumulator releases pressurized oil, which together with the oil supplied by the hydraulic pump feeds into the hydraulic cylinder, enabling it to move quickly. When the hydraulic cylinder moves rapidly, since the accumulator contributes to the oil supply, it is not necessary to use a hydraulic pump with a high flow rate. This not only reduces power consumption by the motor but also lowers the oil temperature in the hydraulic system, as well as allowing the use of smaller-sized auxiliary components. 2. As emergency power source: In cases where there is a sudden power outage while the hydraulic system is in operation, or when faults occur in valves or pumps, the accumulator can serve as an emergency power source to supply fluid to the small hydraulic system. Achieving pump shutdown and pressure retention The small hydraulic press is used in the pump shutdown and pressure retention circuit for clamping systems. To reduce or eliminate pressure pulsations, an accumulator is generally installed near the hydraulic pump to absorb them. 3) Small hydraulic presses and pressure shocks The back-and-forth movement or sudden stop of the actuating element, the sudden switching or closing of control valves, and the sudden start-up or shutdown of hydraulic pumps often generate pressure shocks, leading to mechanical vibrations.
