Excuse me, expert – what type of valve is this? In the diagram, should the flow direction of the medium be from top to bottom or from bottom to top?
This is a Y-type stop valve, with the flow direction being upward, just like in small-diameter stop valves where fluid enters from below and exits from above.
Additionally, after reading this post, I came up with a question and would like to ask: are there any requirements or regulations regarding whether a check valve should be installed before or after the outlet valve?

There are no strict requirements regarding this, but the relevant specifications may include some diagrams; these are usually located in front of the pump’s outlet valve. My understanding is that this arrangement makes it easier to shut off the flow for maintenance purposes. If a check valve is installed at the inlet of a tower reactor or similar device, it is placed before the valve. In normal operation, such check valves are not needed for these types of systems; they are used only during startup and shutdown. Under normal conditions, the root valve must be closed, and in some cases, a blind flange is installed in front of the root valve as well.

Yes, the actual fluid flows downward; so is the direction of this valve installed incorrectly?
Since it belongs to the category of globe valves, it is more appropriate to determine the flow direction based on the characteristics of globe valves, rather than relying on a single flow direction. For liquids, the inlet is at the lower part of the Y-shaped design ; For gases, the inlet is the upper Y-shaped part.
Both globe valves and check valves have flow direction indicators on their bodies. If not. Just follow the principle of entering at a low price and exiting at a high one

If high pressure acts upward like a fluid, it can cause the valve stem to bend and deform after the valve is closed.
Y-direction check valve; the flow direction should be upward
