Table 1 of GB/T20801.5-2006 specifies the weld inspection grades, methods, and proportions. There are five grades for inspection, and the inspection method for Grade I includes visual inspection; Magnetic particle/penetrant ; Radiography/ultrasound; the table also shows the inspection proportion for different types for each inspection method. So, for Grade I inspections, is it required to conduct 100% visual inspection, 100% magnetic particle or penetrant inspection, and 100% radiography or ultrasonic inspection on the butt welds? In general pipeline property tables, I have not seen any cases where two different non-destructive testing requirements are specified at the same time. Additionally, the GB50184 Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Industrial Pipelines (covering both pressure and non-pressure pipelines) also specifies five inspection grades and the methods for classifying them. Is there any connection between this and GB/T20801.5? If there is any contact, please provide the basis.

All of them need to be done. Grade I is designed for harsh operating conditions. Radiographic and ultrasonic testing are primarily used for detecting internal defects; magnetic particle testing is mainly used for detecting surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic material components.

In my opinion, all welds first require 100% visual inspection; circumferential welds are inspected using radiography or ultrasonic testing, while fillet welds are inspected using penetrant testing or magnetic particle testing.
