I have been working in pipeline installation for several years, and I have always had a question: whenever I go to the quality supervision agency to submit reports related to pressure pipelines, I am required to specify the number of such pipelines. But does this number include the lengths of fittings, valves, etc., or not? Is there any clear regulation regarding this? Could the experts help analyze this?

There’s no need to be that precise, right? Generally, the length of pressure pipelines should be the length specified in the design, as given in the \"Process Pipeline Specification Table\", commonly referred to as the pipeline specification table. The pipe dimensions indicated in this table include the length of the valves, as valves are often installed after the pipeline has been installed; in such cases, a section of the pipeline is cut out at the location where the valve is to be installed. For example, in the case of control valve assemblies with bypass lines, no valves are installed initially; instead, after the pipeline is welded together, the section where the valve will be placed is cut out and the valve is then installed there. Therefore, this section of pipeline cannot be excluded from the pipeline length in the utility management table. At first I didn’t understand this; it seemed like a waste to me. But on the one hand, it makes it easier to position the pipes during construction. On the other hand, materials are often in short supply during construction – if the valves don’t arrive, how can piping be installed? A pipe arrived without a valve in the middle, leaving an empty section there; as a result, it’s difficult to position the pipes at both ends.
There are clear regulations regarding this; only they know exactly what length counts.
It is generally calculated based on the coordinates in the drawings, without taking into account the length of pipes and valves.
