Why is the gate plate of a flat gate valve not clad?

Why isn’t the gate plate of the flat gate valve clad? In some of the sample drawings from my factories, only the valve seat is clad, while the gate plate itself isn’t clad at all.
In a flat-plate valve, the gate is different from that of a conventional gate valve. As its name suggests, the gate of a flat-plate valve is a rectangular plate; it moves vertically up and down when the valve is opened or closed, and it seals against the sealing surface through friction. Therefore, it is a very bad idea to weld STL onto the gate – if STL is welded around the edge of the gate, after the valve has been opened and closed several times, those areas where STL is welded will form protrusions, which will reduce the sealing performance of the flat-plate valve and lead to leaks. So, when manufacturing flat valves, STL is usually welded only to the valve seat portion.
Determine the surface hardening process based on the process requirements. The gate plates can also be surfaced by welding, or other hardening processes such as nitriding, ENP plating, QPQ, etc., can be used
When performing STL surfacing on the gate plate, a groove is first carved out and then surfacing is applied; after that, it needs to be machined smooth again, so there will be no protrusions
