What should be the installation sequence between the metal hoses and the control valves on the inlet and outlet pipes of the coal tar storage tank? I think it should be valve + flexible metal hose + valve, but the drawings provided to me by the owner’s equipment contractor show: flexible metal hose + valve. Are both of these connection methods acceptable? Are there any standards I can refer to?
A root valve for the storage tank is needed, as well as a metal hose. Otherwise, without a root valve and with only a metal hose in place, how will it be possible to replace it later?

The root valve cannot be operated in the normally open position! The operation can only be performed on the valve behind the metal hose.

I agree with what was said above – a root valve must be installed in the tank; otherwise, if there is a leak in the pipes near the tank, one can only watch as the material flows away. Additionally, a root valve cannot replace an operating valve – its purpose is to provide emergency shut-off. Frequent use of it may affect the sealing reliability of the valve, and it also shouldn’t remain in the open position all the time. It should be opened and closed periodically, depending on whether the tank is in use (there’s no need to do this very frequently), to prevent it from getting stuck and becoming unusable in an emergency. As for the operation valves and check valves, it is recommended to place them behind the hose and in front of the storage tank; operation valves should be installed at both the front and back of the hose.
There are two types of projects: one with low inlet and low outlet, and the other with high inlet and low outlet; the latter does not have a check valve. I understand what you mean!
Is the electric valve placed between the hose and the tank or at the end of the hose?
According to the specifications, an emergency shut-off valve must be installed at the first root valve coming out of the storage tank; an operating valve cannot be used. No other connectors can be set either!
