May I ask if metal wound gaskets with inner and outer rings can be used for PN10 flanges? We are responsible for the inward-extending flanges of the tower feed distribution pipes. The internal components of the tower are not subject to much pressure, so PN10 flanges are used. I would like to ask whether metal wound gaskets with inner and outer rings can be used with PN10 flanges
It seems unnecessary to use inner and outer ring reinforcing metal gaskets for this; of course, to answer your question, they can be used. Normal use of ordinary metal gaskets is sufficient.
Thank you for the reply. It’s really not necessary to use it; it’s just a requirement from the client. May I ask if there are any requirements regarding the pressure rating of flanges when using inner and outer ring metal wound gaskets? For example, what is the minimum value it cannot be below?
There are no requirements; it can be used at pressures below 100 kilograms.
The pressure range for HG standard winding gaskets is PN16–PN160; PN10 is not acceptable.

I wasn’t entirely precise in my statement; what I meant is that there are requirements regarding the upper limit of the pressure rating for metal gaskets with internal and external reinforcement, while for the lower limit, PN10 is certainly acceptable.
Sure, it depends on the type of flange sealing surface you have. It’s okay to exceed the standards, but it must not be below them!
I also saw that this requirement is specified in the standards, but our internal components are hardly subjected to any pressure, so there’s no need to use PN16 flanges. I would like to ask: are there any potential issues with using metal wound gaskets with inner and outer rings for PN10 flanges? Is it still a size issue?
The gasket size needs to be customized; with the bolt pre-tension of PN10, sealing should not be a problem.
