What material is suitable for valves that need to remain submerged in the Yangtze River water for several months each year?
The media are oils and other chemicals with low corrosivity, such as ethanol, methanol, and ethyl acetate. I mainly want to ask whether the valve body needs to be made of stainless steel?
It depends on how well it is maintained. Being exposed to water isn’t a problem; what’s problematic is damage to the surface coating. If this isn’t repaired, and proper maintenance is carried out, carbon steel valves are sufficient
If cost is not a constraint, it is recommended to use stainless steel, as it is easier to maintain.
If the chloride ion content in water is high, duplex steel material is required

It is possible to use ordinary carbon steel valves when submerged in water. However, given the impact forces present in the waters of the Yangtze River, and especially during peak flood periods when these forces are even greater, they can cause significant damage to the coating on the valve surface. It is recommended to use valves made of materials of stainless steel or better; if possible, enhancing the strength of the valve body by using duplex steel valves is also an option~
