From what I understand, it’s cold spray tungsten carbide; I’m not sure if there are other methods. Also, is surface hardening done during the production process or the processing stage?
One is cold spraying, and the other is hot spraying. Surface hardening is a separate process; if a part’s surface needs to be hardened, it is done after the part has been manufactured
The valve internals include the following types: 1. Ceramic, which has the highest hardness but poor shock resistance. 2. Cemented carbide: it has poor resistance to acids and alkalis, but offers the best overall performance in terms of hardness; the choice depends on the size of the part, with cost being a factor to consider. 3. Plasma surfacing: hardness of 50–60 HRC. 4. Spraying: coating thickness of around 0.3 mm, with a hardness of over 60 HRC. 5. Composite materials, such as cemented carbide + steel components + spraying, etc.: different manufacturing processes are employed depending on the operating conditions in various areas of the internal components, and these components are then combined through hot fitting or brazing. Subsequent precision grinding is carried out. This process is most commonly used in the coal chemical industry; it offers a longer service life compared to imported parts, reduces costs, and improves durability.
