The one I encountered is a high-pressure control valve; it’s used to prevent the medium from pushing the valve open in case of a gas supply failure, and that’s why a double-acting fail-safe mechanism along with a gas storage tank is employed.
A single-acting actuator with fail-safe shutdown and an air storage tank – this configuration, combined with the closing force provided by the spring and the air tank, ensures greater safety and faster response! .
Valves that generally need to be designed as double-acting cylinders are those where single-acting actuators are unable to provide the required high thrust, or where very large springs are necessary; in such cases, a double-acting design with an air reservoir is adopted
