The metal pipe wall thickness calculation table that I developed myself – the calculation of pipe wall thickness isn’t complicated in itself; it is necessary to consult the allowable stress values based on temperature, and this table solves that problem. After entering the design temperature, the allowable stress is calculated automatically. (Due to limited personal capacity, only the parameters of some commonly used materials have been entered so far.)

GB 50316-2000 (2008 edition) Code for Design of Industrial Metal Piping – Appendix A: Allowable stresses for metal materials; the values differ for thicknesses below 16 mm and those above 16 mm. Due to the excessive thickness of the metal material, the internal stresses in the metal have a significant impact on its properties, necessitating heat treatment. The blanks of large metal forgings are generally left outdoors, exposed to sunlight and rain for several years, in order to eliminate the internal stresses generated during metal forming.
